1986 Challenge of the GoBots Comic Book Ad

Look, I grew up poor, so the only Transformers I could afford were the little crappy Matchbox-size ones like Bumblebee, or cassette tapes for Soundwave. Now they've got a mega-million sequel coming, and my toy of choice G.I. Joe gets a flick this summer as well. So my question is, where's the motherfucking GoBots love, bitches? Not even Direct-to-DVD? Starring Brian Austin Green and Roma Maffia? Represent for GoBotron, yo!

i too didn't have a lot of transformers. I only had Huffer and Brawn and friggin' Cosmos*. But Go bots were only 3 bucks a pop at the five and dime.

Copter CyKill and the one with a drill for a head were my favorite Go Bots. the Bad guys were pretty bad ass. the cartoon was pretty bogus though compared to the Transformers. The guy with the moustache who used to help the good go bots looked like one of my Dad's friends.

* i used to buy bootleg transformers at the flea market. all the constructicons for 11 bucks. they were red but the price was right.

My best Transformers memory: My friends' Soundwave and a strobe light. Wir-wick-wah-whick-wirr!

Screw Head was the rather on-the-nose name of that GoBot, which I totally had to Google, because I even went "oh yeah, CyKill" after reading your comment.

Hasbro now owns the rights to the Gobots. Highly unlikely you'll ever see them again.

Thanks for the head's up, David. Truth to tell though, my tongue was firmly planted in cheek throughout that post...
